Chicago Federation of Labor and AFSCME Council 31 Endorse Ald. Knudsen in 43rd Ward Race
Two Key Labor Unions Join Growing List of Endorsements
Chicago — Two of the city and state’s preeminent labor unions have endorsed Alderman Timmy Knudsen in the 43rd Ward race.
The Chicago Federation of Labor and AFSCME Council 31 join several local leaders in endorsing Ald. Knudsen, including former 43rd Ward Alderpeople Bill Singer (1969 - 1975) and Charles Bernardini (1993 - 1999); State Reps. Margaret Croke and Ann Williams; legislative leaders House Majority Leader Greg Harris and former Senate President John Cullerton, among many others.
“As alderman, I’ve already shown up for the labor movement, and I am proud to have the support of the Chicago Federation of Labor and AFSCME Council 31 in my campaign to continue serving the 43rd Ward,” said Alderman Timmy Knudsen. “One of my proudest professional achievements during my time as a start-up attorney was helping to save the Chicago Sun-Times through its sale to a union, as well as advising and volunteering for many pro-union candidates. I will continue this commitment to working people as alderman, advocating for employees and the communities they live in to ensure their rights are protected and benefits are sustained. I thank the CFL and AFSCME Council 31 for their endorsement — let’s get to work.”
The Chicago Federation of Labor is the umbrella organization for Chicago and Cook County’s labor unions. From airline pilots to zookeepers, the Chicago Federation of Labor’s 300 affiliated unions and their half a million members represent a diverse group of working women and men throughout the area.
AFSCME Council 31 represents public service workers across the state of Illinois — representing more than 90,000 active and retired employees of state, county and city governments, state universities, local school districts and nonprofit agencies.
