Ald. Knudsen Campaign Releases First Ads, Microsite to Counter Misinformation
Chicago — As early voting expands to all 50 wards, Alderman Timmy Knudsen was the first candidate to greet voters this morning at Lincoln Park Library. The Knudsen campaign is releasing the campaign’s first 30-second video spots that are reaching 43rd Ward voters on digital channels.
In “Public Safety Investments,” Ald. Knudsen shares his two-track approach that pairs short-term and long-term strategies to reduce crime and keep neighbors safe. On day one, he reallocated the ward’s infrastructure budget to invest in public safety infrastructure, including strategically-placed cameras and license plate readers that experts say are proven to deter carjackings and other crime. Through the city budget, Ald. Knudsen helped secure an additional $100 million for anti-violence programs that address the root causes of violence.

In “Blocking Tax Hikes,” Ald. Knudsen shares his record of helping stop multiple tax increases on 43rd Ward homeowners. As soon as he was sworn in as alderman, he advocated against the proposed increase in property taxes in the city budget, telling the Sun-Times, “we can’t rely on homeowners every time the city needs additional revenue.” Additionally, Ald. Knudsen helped block a proposal that would have tripled the Real Estate Transfer Tax, which would have affected many 43rd Ward commercial and residential properties.
To counter misinformation and repeated attacks by an opponent on property taxes, the campaign is also launching a new microsite today that details Wendi Taylor-Nations’ troubling history of mounting mean-spirited, personal campaigns against people she disagrees with. At wendi43.com, voters can examine her cyberbullying against a former coworker that landed her in a three-year lawsuit. Her tactics were so vicious that an appellate court judge wrote that “Wendi’s conduct… was intrusive, tactless and distasteful.” Enough said.
